November 2020

Updated: Jun 16, 2022

The year continues to be strange. JOHN MCGIVERN, UP CLOSE (BUT NOT TOO CLOSE!) has been postponed due to the rising levels of Covid-19 infections in Milwaukee. Our current plan is to mount it in late February, 2021, but not a holiday version. We'll see.

Meantime, THE CHRISTIANS is about to be released for streaming. It's a tele-play, mostly filmed in a beautiful church and so much more than just another Zoom presentation. It's pretty fully staged, and shot and edited to broadcast quality. I've learned a lot in the process and hugely enjoyed this way of working, as well as the play and the cast. We're almost done editing and I can't wait to see and share the final cut. I hope a lot of people see it and I'm really thankful that some folks who live far away and rarely (if ever) see my work, will be able to buy tickets. About the play:

This is a play about belief. It takes place in an evangelical church, but the play isn’t simply about Christianity or even religion. It’s about how a group of people can share a particular belief and then what happens when someone has a change of heart or a change of conviction. This is why the play is so relevant. Because all of us hold certain truths to be self-evident – be they moral, religious, political, cultural or familial. And sometimes our truths bind us to others, but sometimes they keep us apart, or tear us apart. Ultimately, the play poses a question, “Can people really relate to each other if their convictions diverge?” Edward Morgan
